Christmas Countdown: Sugar-Free Cranberry Sauce

Cranberry Sauce On the HobAre you sitting down? Because I have something to tell you, something that may come as quite a shock…

…because today’s recipe is like no other on my blog. You’ll find no chocolate, no candy, not even any peanut butter. Most surprisingly you’ll discover this recipe contains NO SUGAR! Yes that’s right, self-confessed sweet-toothed queen of the sugar castle has made a healthy, recipe that is completely free from refined sugar – shock, horror, gasp! – an All-Natural Sugar-Free Cranberry Sauce Recipe.

When it comes to Christmas dinner, one of my favourite parts has always been the cranberry sauce. As children, my brother and I would always look forward to polishing off any leftover Yorkshire puddings, smothering them in this delicious red jelly of festive delight.

However, before you turn away in disgust, the lack of sugar in this recipe does NOT mean a compromise on taste. In fact, you’d never realise it didn’t contain any sugar, if I hadn’t told you. It’s also super easy to make, tastier than any stuff you’d find in the supermarket, made with natural ingredients and has no refined sugar – what’s not to love?!

Still need convincing? Just think about the sugar you have “saved” with this tasty sauce, now you can totally justify indulging in that extra piece of Festive Fudge or Peppermint Chocolate!

I used frozen cranberries straight from the freezer, but you can also use fresh. I also used an all-natural, sugar-free apple sauce from Wholefoods – remember, you need to use sugar-free apple sauce for this recipe to remain sugar-free!
Cranberry Sauce On the Hob 2To make this recipe all you need to do is place the cranberries, apple sauce, orange juice and orange zest into a medium sized saucepan.
Place the saucepan over a medium-high heat and bring the ingredients to a boil.
Cranberry Sauce On the HobOnce at boiling point reduce the heat to medium-low and continue to cook for another 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
Once the cranberries have popped and the sauce has thickened, your sin-free cranberry sauce is ready! That’s really all there is to it – you’ll be kicking yourself for putting up with the ready-made stuff for so long.
To make this Sugar Free Cranberry Sauce Recipe I used the following equipment:
