Last weekend Seattle hosted one of my fave events of the year, Comicon, a comic book and pop culture convention that draws over 80,000 people into the city.

Although I’m not a comic book fan myself and I have no intentions of ever setting foot inside the Comicon convention, I do love the buzz it brings to the city – I have never seen anything like it. The streets are literally flooded with people adorning movie-quality costumes with hair and make up like you’ve never seen. It’s so exciting and lifts everybody’s mood – well it’s not every day you can have an encounter with Spiderman in your local Starbucks, or bump into Batman while crossing the street!
The sun also decided to put his hat on and make an appearance this weekend, and with temperatures hitting the high 70’s, we couldn’t have wished for better weather. With the Comicon spirit rising within me, I decided to go all sci-fi and beam up these yummy Jello-O Robot Pops!
If you like jelly sweets, I promise you are going LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this recipe! Such a simple concept, using jello-o (or jelly to us Brits!) rather than regular juice, results in a wonderfully gummy, chewy icy experience – sounds strange right?!!! Truly delicious the jello-o like consistency means the ice pops tend to drip less than regular juice pops and they’re softer and easier to bite into too – need any more excuses?!!!
To help get my sci-fi groove on, I used Tovolo’s Robot Pop Moulds to make adorable robot shapes – such great fun, for children and the kid within all of us!
I also want to take this opportunity to apologise, in advance, for any lack in communication over the next three weeks. However, I’m sure you’ll find the kindness in your hearts to forgive me, as I do have a rather good excuse – I’m heading off on a belated honeymoon as well as jetting off to Japan to celebrate the wedding of our good friends, the Hasslingers – I’m so excited!!!
I will be updating all of the Arugula & Rocket social media pages on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram while I am away, so please keep visiting!!!
Now back to the task in hand…
…to make this Robot Jell-O Pops Recipe, simply combine the Jell-O, sugar (if using) and boiling water together in a bowl, stirring until the Jell-O powder has been completely absorbed. Then add the cold water, pour into the ice pop moulds, and freeze – it’s as simple as that!
